Parent Involvement

Parental involvement is an integral part of the Paideia community. A few things parent volunteers do:

  • Raise money for financial aid
  • Run Green Team recycling program
  • Serve Pi Bites lunches
  • Create playbill for music department

The possibilities are endless. Parents fill over 3,000 volunteer jobs in a typical school year and view the opportunity to volunteer as an important way to participate in their child’s school.

Music and Theater

  • Younger elementary students: general music instruction twice a week
  • Older elementary students: band or orchestra and chorus
  • Junior high students: band, orchestra, and chorus
  • High School students: 47% involved in madrigals, chorus, jazz ensemble, chamber orchestra, and chamber music ensembles
  • Annual musical theater and drama productions in junior high and high school
  • Paideia students selected for these groups: All-State Chorus, All-State Band, All-State Jazz Ensemble, All-State Orchestra, Spivey Hall Honor Choir, AYJO, AYWE, MYSO, EYSO, AJCO, GISA All-Select Orchestra

Art

  • Elementary students have weekly art instruction

  • Each year students regularly win top awards in visual arts, including photography, in juried exhibitions: Scholastic Art (gold and silver winners), Georgia Drawing, The Dogwood Festival (Best School in Georgia for most winners, 2004), Georgia District High School Art, 5th Congressional District Art Show winners 2001, 2004 and 2005, Pace Photography Show winner 2004, 2005 and 2006
